About

Marathi Prabodhan is a cultural platform of Marathi Department which conducts various co-curricular as well as extra-curricular activities for the overall development of students. Earlier Prof. Vasant Kokaje led this association with many co-cuuricular activities while Prof. Shashikant Jaywant of Mathematics department took keen interest and gave cultural dimension to it by encouraging students and staff to participate in the activities. With this perspective, Dr. Veena Sanekar (alumni and now I/C Principal, Head-Department of Marathi) widened its horizon.

Following are the Co-Curricular Activities of Marathi Prabodhan: Book Exhibition, Poster Exhibition, Visit to a Book shop, Visit to a Library, Visit to Media Houses, Visit to Theatre,Skill oriented workshops in association with NGOs, Marathi Film Festival, Poetry Corner, Author’s Meet,‘Aashay’ - Handwritten magazine by students, Conducting workshops for tribal students etc.

Extra-Curricular Activities that are conducted by Marathi Prabodhan are: Cultural Performances of the students, 10 collegiate competitions, 3 inter-collegiate competitions, Educational Tours, Tilgul Festival, Marathi Language Day, encouraging students to participate in various cultural and academic platforms, Conducting programs on self as well as social awareness.

Marathi Prabodhan conducted its various activities in Association with prominent organisations and NGOs, which include-Sahitya Akademi, Marathi Abhyas Kendra, Vacha – Women’s Resource Center, Maharashtra Rajya Marathi Vishwakosh Nirmitee Mandal, Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangha, Prabhat Chitra Mandal, Konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad-Chembur Branch, Runanubandh – Association of Ex-students, Mangaonwadi Aadiwasi Aashram School, Jummapatti, Neral.

Till date, in our various functions, our Celebrity Guests include stalwarts in their respective fields, such as, Mangesh Padgaonkar, Padmaja Phenani-Joglekar, Ratnakar Matkari, Ashok Samel, Dinkar Gangal, Dr. Vijaya Rajadhyaksha, Dr. Vijaya Wad, Anant Bhave, Dr. Ganesh Chandanshive, Shrikant Bojewar, Nikhil Wagle, Krushna Kimbahune, Sambhaji Bhagat, Shafaat Khan, Madhuri Purandare, Kishor Kadam, Kaushal Inamdar, Chandrashekhar Sanekar, Irawati Karnik and many more..

Recently, on occasion of Marathi Language Day on 27th February 2023, Marathi Prabodhan received a prestigious award as a Best Marathi Language Association by Maharashtra Times in a ceremony at Mumbai University Convocation Hall, Fort Campus.

Objectives

Marathi Prabodhan aims at holistic development of student by various activities.

  • To raise creative abilities of students by giving them platform for such performances and activities.
  • To develop Linguistic competence through various activities.
  • To develop Literary competence through various activities.
  • To develop self-awareness and team building through various activities.
  • To make students aware of their Socio-cultural environment and inculcate values of our culture.
