Ph.D. Centre of K J Somaiya College of Arts & Commerce commenced in 2011 under the guideship of Prof. Dr. Deelip Palsapure, HOD (Department of Commerce). The center was granted permission to admit the research scholars under the criteria of Business Policy & Administration. The Centre is well equipped with information technology equipment as well as research software. The library attached to the research center is updated with the recent reference books in suitable criteria.

Guide's Profile

Dr. Deelip Prabhakar Palsapure
M.Com, MMS, Ph.D, DCM, DBM
  • HOD, Department of Commerce initiated his tenure in the college from December 1998. He has 29 years of experience in the education field. He completed his post-graduation from University of Pune in Commerce and Accountancy. He achieved his doctorate degree in Human Resource, Commerce from University of Pune under the guidance of Dr. P. C. Shejawalkar (Emeritus Professor).
  • He achieved expertise in Management Studies i.e. MMS from Pune University. Being the initiator of Research Centre in college, ten research scholars have successfully completed their doctorate degree under their able guideship. Forty-two research papers in various recognized national and international journals are to his credit.
Prof. Dr. Sonali Deogirikar
  • Prof. Dr. Sonali Deogirikar is a highly accomplished and result driven Professor in the Department of Commerce with over 22 years of experience in Commerce and Management education. She has proven her leadership by serving as post graduate course coordinator since 2013 and is currently mentoring two Ph.D. scholars in Business Policy and Administration.
  • Her areas of expertise include Human Resource Management and Research Methodology. Prof. Deogirikar is an active researcher with numerous publications in UGC-approved and referred journals, covering themes such as sustainability, talent management, financial services, retail investment behavior, leadership in the public sector. She has represented college at international level at conferences in Thailand and Indonesia.
  • Her recent work explores topics like collaborative wildlife conservation, sustainable urban design, and green business models. She is currently holding position at Board of studies of different colleges and was appointed as University Nominee by University of Mumbai on selection committees. She is recognized for her contributions to academic leadership, innovative pedagogy, and scholarly research.
Dr. Shobha Bennet Mathew
  • Dr. Shobha Bennet Mathew is an Associate Professor in Commerce at K.J. Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce (Autonomous), Mumbai, with over 16 years of teaching experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Commerce and is a recognized Ph.D. guide at the University of Mumbai.
  • Dr. Shobha Mathew has published more than 25 research papers in UGC CARE-listed and peer-reviewed journals. She has presented research papers at various national and international seminars and conferences and has contributed chapters to several books. She has also undertaken several minor research projects funded by the University of Mumbai. Her contribution to student skill development has been particularly noteworthy.
  • She heads the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension and Entrepreneurship Development Cell at the college. Under her leadership and initiative, more than 70 skill-development programmes have been conducted for students. She has also actively contributed to various other institutional committees. She is a resource person for various national seminars and is frequently invited as a speaker for Faculty Development Programmes
