छान्दोग्य उपनिषद्: ॐ इत्येतदक्षरं उद्गीथमुपासीत ओमिति हृद्गायति तस्योपव्याख्यानम् l
"Worship ye OM, the eternal syllable, OM is the Udgitha, the chant of Samaveda; for with OM, they begin the chant of Sama. And this is the exposition of OM."
To coincide with the new educational policy, the philosophy department at K.J. Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce has introduced a new certificate course in Omkar meditation. Omkar Meditation Course was inspired by ancient and eternal Indian wisdom and thought. The aim of education in ancient India wasn't only to get prepared for this world, but to realize and liberate oneself. Indian knowledge and thought have been a guiding light for this Omkar Meditation Course from the depths of time and space.
The Upanishads, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and the Bhagavad Gita all discuss Pranava ॐ, an ancient yogic method of meditation. Om is a great tool for manifesting positive change in your life. Chanting Om calms your mind and helps you bring in positive energy into your body. Omkar is the primordial sound from which the whole universe was created. Om is also called the Shabda Brahman – God as sound/vibration. Practicing Pranava ॐ meditation results in moksha or freedom from suffering and limitations. In this practice, the focus is on the sound of the Om mantra, thought to represent the Absolute Reality.
This course is open for all.
