The 81st Foundation Day of the People’s Education Society (PES), established by the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution, Bharat Ratna, Mahamanav, Revered Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, was celebrated with great grandeur at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai.
The event was graced by the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, as the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Shri Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and President of the People’s Education Society.
Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Former Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Smt. Neelam Tai Gorhe; PES Trustee Adv. Ujjwal Nikam; PES Secretary Dr. Vasudev Gade; PES Trustees Adv. B. K. Barve, Dr. Venkat Swamy, and Arvind Sonatakke; Bhadant Rahul Bodhi; and PES Executive Committee Member Chandrashekhar Kamble, along with several other eminent guests.
On this occasion, the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award was presented to individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to education and society. The awardees included Smt. Neelam Tai Gorhe, Padma Shri Ashok Aba Khade, Dr. Akhil Shahani, Dr. Vinay Raut, Dr. Ramesh Khanvilkar, Prin. Dr. Kishan H Pawar, Dr. Vishnu Bhandare, Dr. Vijay More, Nandkumar Gondhali, Vijay Mohite, and the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Diwas Coordination Committee.
The awards were conferred by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra in recognition of their remarkable service and achievements.
