My Quest for Excellence

The experience of appearing for the exam again as a student after 22 years is very wonderful. I had passed 10th exam in March 1998. Further education had to be discontinued due to some domestic reasons. But I wanted to learn a lot. After marriage, it was often suggested by many close ones that they wanted to pursue further education, but time passed by, saying that the education of family and children was important. In 2014, I got a job as a peon in Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce.

The whole environment became educational and the idea of striving for further education became prevalent. It was encouraged by the college, the Principal, the Registrar, all the teachers and everyone in the office.

But 22 years and re-study? I mean, there was a discussion with the teachers while working on how to bridge the gap between the two generations. From this, everyone believed that I could easily complete my education and everyone helped me a lot. I wanted to study while taking care of 2 children, job, home .I was involved in the struggle for pollution free house and environment for the right to life and home .Most of my studies in political science and sociology were done without books but through  struggle in practical life. My interest in language made it easy for me to study. I was hardly getting 2 to 3 hours a day for study. During the exam, I took 15 days leave from work and studied. With the will and guidance of the teachers, everything became easier. I appeared for the exam along with the students with whom I had to deal with it while working. The students, too, accepted me easily.

No preparation.... but I got the tips from teachers in a very short time. I mean, the 12th exam was also a battle. My and my family's wish for many years seems to be coming true. 72% Marks!

Now with newly raised confidence I wish to get a Degree in Arts.

Thank you to all the teachers who encouraged me and gave me confidence.

I am sure everyone will continue guiding me.
