- Abstract
The aim of the present study was to assess cognitive workload level in air traffic controllers in Area Control Center (ACC) at Mumbai airport. Objective questionnaires (RAMS Cogload questionnaire) involving time estimation of various sub-tasks/processes were used. In addition, subjective standard rating questionnaire like NASA-TLX and other were also used. Questionnaires were developed and adapted to Indian ATC units and their practices. Thirty-eight controllers from ACC participated. The obtained results show that controllers in ACC indicate high cognitive workload. 'RAMS CogLoad Questionnaire' yielded CW index [ ACC: 0.97 (> 0.70) suggesting a high CW at the system level in ACC unit.
