EDLOF is a test of emotional discrimination in the process of being standardized with various populations. This preliminary study records EDLOF responses of 30 institutionalised and 30 non-institutionalised children matched on relevant parameters. Findings are reported with reference to time taken to identify the target emotion from an array, which was found to be significantly higher for non-institutionalized children, time taken to seek similar emotions, which was significantly shorter for institutionalised then non-institutionalised children except in some cases.Finally, the category of similar emotions chosed by the two groups is discussed though a qualitative analysis.
