- Abstract
Throughout all of human history, people have been migrating. Jainism traditionally has been confined to the Indian subcontinent. The migration of the Jains mainly across borders forms interesting study, for the Jains as a community did not encourage or favour migration due to religious restrictions. However, being commercial community the economic expansion posed interesting opportunities. The paper explores the process of opening up of the introverted community of the Jains at variety of levels- intellectual and geographical. The main focus is on the Jain diaspora at U.K. and U.S.A. The settlement, expansion and response to the challenges posed by their stay in these countries are the issues explored in the paper.
