  • Abstract

Vows occupied an important part in the life of Gandhi. Eleven vows have been significant feature of Ashram life and Gandhian movement. Vows on the other hand have been the basis of the Jain spiritual life. The present study investigates these two parallels. It probes into the similarities and borrowings of the Gandhian Vratas and those of the Jain.
